Commands In Dog Training That You Should Know
When you want to train your dog, your goal is to have him learn how to respond to basic commands that you give him. There are many commands out there, but there are the core ones that all dogs should now.
"Come"
This command is very important because you would use this to call back your dog when he gets away from your hold of the leash. This command is often taught with the dog's name for greater effectiveness.
"Sit"
The command is very easy for the dog to learn. It is often used in controlling the dog from getting overly excited and out of control. Dogs that like to jump on people are often told to "sit" a lot.
"Stay"
This command is not as easy to learn as "sit", because it requires more self-control from the dog. This command is used when you want to stop your dog from approaching something that is potentially harmful. However, the dog's curiosity often gets the best of him, causing the dog to ignore the command.
"Down"
You use this command when you want your dog to wait for you for longer than a few minutes. The dog get down on his belly in a comfortable position. This makes the dog more comfortable as he waits for you.

"Leave It" or "Drop It"
These commands are given when you want your dog to drop whatever he has in his mouth. It can be something that is potential harmful, or it can be one of your expensive leather shoes.
"Heel"
This command is given to your dog If you want him to walk along side you at your left. This is a common command for big dogs.
When teaching commands, it is important that you have lots of patience. It may take many weeks before your dog responds appropriately to the command that you want to teach him. Also, repetition is the key. You have to be consistent in how you are teaching your dog. Give your dog a reward when one command is mastered. When you take dog training one step at a time, you will eventually get there.
